02/25/11 As the expression goes: if you’ve got it, flaunt it! Well Tom has got it and is flaunting it daily on the road. Proud owner of a Volkswagen Collectible, Mr. Tom Costaggini drives a Volkswagen Golf Harlequin which is “the by far best car he has ever owned.” He has owned many Volkswagens prior to owning his “best thrill ride ever” including a dasher, beetle, and Jetta. He bought this uniquely stunning classic off of our showroom floor, back in 1996. He was looking for something that would get a lot of attention and be fun to drive; he definitely made the right choice with the Harlequin! This Volkswagen was made to be a head-turner! It is the only multi-colored Volkswagen model ever made. Volkswagen has assembled a total of 264 models. To this day, Tom’s primary color full Volkswagen Harlequin is in great shape and still gets immense love and attention from both owner and viewers. This car has gotten every driver to slow down and check out his outrageous VW. Everyone can’t help, but ask to take pictures; folks even beg in hopes of buying the very original Golf off of Tom. Tom and this Harlequin are made for each other! Now with the mileage reaching 150,000, he LOVES it and will never stop enjoying the ride of his life. Mr. Costaggini’s 1996 Volkswagen Golf Harlequin is a 2.0L five speed manual transmission. This very interesting and rare model is one of the most limited production Volkswagen has ever produced. All 264 vehicles have four of the same colors: blue, red, yellow and green that are uniquely and individually distributed to each car. Tom’s eye grabber, has a red roof with yellow doors on both driver's side and front passanger (side.) Volkswagens world-wise have personality, style and are fun to drive; the Harlequin is a perfect combination of that description and embodies what Volkswagen is all about. Based on the 1996 Golf GL, the history behind the Harlequin Volkswagen was orginally created the Design series to tour at International Auto shows. Due to its huge, positive public response the original four Design series, 60 more vehicles were produced for the public which then grew to the total of 264.
